CHATEAU FOMBRAUGE
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
“Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2018 Fombrauge gives up expressive scents of Black Forest cake, compote of blackberries and sour cherries with hints of plum jam, spice box and potpourri. Full-bodied, with a firm, velvety texture and plenty of freshness, all that rich dark fruit delivers on a long, spicy finish. -Wine Advocate-Parker
VINIFICATION
Parcel selection by terroir, by grape variety and according to the age of the vines. Intra-plot selection using vigor and maturity maps established with the drone. Manual harvest in small crates. Sorting on the table before and after destemming by 20 qualified people. Putting in wood, stainless steel and concrete vats of small capacity (70hl), by gravity. Pre-fermentation maceration for 4 to 8 days at 8°C. Entirely manual pigeages.
Duration of maceration: Merlot from 28 to 32 days, Cabernets from 26 to 28 days. Aged for 16 months: 40% in new barrels, 60% in one-wine barrels.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: The color is dark, limpid and intense, with a very beautiful color.
The nose: The nose is flattering undulating around a fruity and floral framework. We particularly perceive notes of red fruits such as black cherries, walls and elderberry in this Château Fombrauge Rouge 2018.
Mouth: In the mouth, the wine is immediately deliciously perfumed. The taste is very fruity and the texture is soft. Gradually, the aromas develop for an increasingly intense and deep tasting.
VARIETIES
